The ancient section is an area in Submachine 4: The Lab and Submachine Universe.

History

The people in the ancient section exploration team explored this location, but their coil soon ran out of power. They abandoned their equipment and blind jumped to the brick room.

Architecture

The setting of the ancient section slightly resembles the setting of Sub0. The area is dull in color as there are mainly walls with a light shade of gray-blue, along with panels with runes. There is a control panel at the bottom of the first ladder leading to the right of the teleporter.

In Sub4, when the correct runes are slid down, a panel will open. Two panels opened contain two keys to bring down another ladder. Three more contain three tiles that are placed on a wall below the control panel. There is also a statue of a jackal. When all four tiles are placed on the wall a panel opens revealing a turning button. This will reveal a grooved wall with steps leading up to two telescopes near the teleporter. A coil can be found in the room accessed by the tiles.

The telescope on the left is used to gather another set of room coordinates and the telescope on the right is used for seeing a section of the lighthouse.

The ancient section is also the home of one of the bells in Sub4.

In the Submachine Universe the area looks the same, but now only one item, a blue karma vial, can be found behind the four panels. In the right top room, a plate clues to the room 800. In the bottom left a karma portal to Stele's chambers replaces the switch hidden in the tile puzzle. In the bottom right, a karma portal to the lamp tunnel can be accessed after navigating through a short path of rubble similar to that found in the lighthouse.
