The cake room is a location in Submachine Universe.
Architecture[]
This room seems to have once been the site of a birthday party. In the center screen, with the karma portal, curtains have been roped away to make room for the portal, around which is a pattern etched into the wall. One screen to the right from the portal, on a long table surrounded by chairs, is a large platter with candles and silverware strewn around it. One candle, standing upright, is lit, while several unlit ones are laying about. Mauve, partially torn curtains line a gold-colored wall. To the left of the portal is a red chest of drawers (the drawers can be opened), on top of which is a phonograph-like the one from the lighthouse, but red. At both ends of the room, huge piles of chairs block off the far walls. The Weight Companion Stone can be seen resting on the pile of chairs to the right.
This room bears a striking resemblance to the cake loop, as the curtains and wall design are identical save for color.
Ambient[]
The ambient used in this room is a short, bright piece of piano music. The song itself is the first verse of "Still Alive" by Jonathan Coulton. The phonograph appears to be generating it.

Trivia[]
- Besides the ambient, this room contains numerous references to the game Portal.
- It is accessed via a (karma) portal.
- This room shows the apparent aftermath of a party, complete with cake remnants. A party and a cake are the promised rewards for completing Portal.
- The missing cake references "The cake is a lie", a meme that originated from the game.
- A valve is used to unlock this room. Valve is the company that developed Portal.
- The Weight Companion Stone can be collected from the pile of chairs on the right hand side of the Cake Room, and is identical in appearance to the Weighted Companion Cube from the game Portal.
- Directly prior to the closing credits of Portal, the Weighted Companion Cube survives with the player to the very end. It can be seen sitting next to the player's reward: a cake. Similarly in Submachine Universe, the Weight Companion Stone can be spotted laying in the sand just outside of the game's final exit portal from the Observatory's dome...also surviving with the Player to the very end. (Logically, if the Player does not pick up the Weight Companion Stone from the pile of chairs in the Cake Room, it won't be seen sticking out of the sand at the very end of the game.)
- The background music was performed by Alex Voytenko, who also composed the soundtracks of "Daymare Town 3" and "Daymare Town 4", two other games by Mateusz Skutnik. A plate on a wall of the location gives credit to him.
