Notebook

The notebook

  • Get notebook
  • Get out of bed. Notice the panel on the wall. We will return to it in the end of the game. Pick up the notebook on the floor. With it, you can create in-game notes. (Don't pick up the notebook if you're not going to use it - it will take up space in your inventory.) Use it to write down coordinates and clues.
  • Turn on computer
  • Go left, click the switch and enter the bathroom. Go down and turn on all switches (the leftmost one controls the computer, the middle one the portal and the rightmost one the ambient lights).
  • Go up. (You can go right, don't pick up the soap yet. It is necessary to complete the game, but only toward the end. You will likely need the inventory space for other objects).
  • Leave the bathroom. Go down. Click the button on the computer.
  • Get codes
  • Click the computer screen.
  • Make note of the several codes. We'll start by going to those rooms and exploring them before moving on to the clues within.
  • New codes: 051; 076; 541; 551; 628; 642

  • Go left twice. Click on each of the lenses on the machine by the gate.
  • Make note of the lock mechanism. We will return to it (there is a karma portal (mlp) which leads to a room with statues of horses, unicorns, and Pegasus.).
  • Get codes

  • On the wall, you'll see two columns of roman numerals. Hover your cursor over them reveals the order of the numbers (top - middle - bottom).
  • Make note of the codes.

  • One new code is given by the plate on the wall.
  • The other is obtained from the theories, which give the digits and their order.

  • Go left. Pick up the valve on the dharma wheel, on top of the table.
  • Take note of the oval light and the corresponding digit. Second oval light - 7.
  • Go right thrice. Click the red button.
  • Alternate layer (gzb)
  • This transports you to an alternative version of this room.
  • Go right. Hover your cursor on the panel on the dharma wheel and read it. Take note of the code. Also, notice the bowl on the pedestal. We will return to it later.

  • The first new code can be obtained from the panel "THIS - 229". Given that the coordinate of this location is 628, we have 628 - 229 = 399.
  • The other code was in the panel on the dharma wheel.

  • We have now exhausted all the coordinates given in the computer. Now, we begin using the "second generation" coordinates that we found on this location and the previous ones.
  • Go left twice. Insert the coordinates on the portal and click the button.

523 - (051 - The left hand side of the symbol) Ionic portal hub[]

  • Go right. Hover the cursor over the tally in the wall, near the top left. Count the number of etches in each part to get the code. Take note of the code.
  • Also, notice how it seems to be a room above. It is indeed the case, and we will return here later.

  • Go left thrice. Place the weight stone on top of the rod.
  • Go right four times. Pick up the plasma vial. Read the theory.

  • The code can be found by counting the number of etches in the tally on the wall, near the columns: 2-7-7

  • This loop is somewhat more confusing than most of the others you'll encounter. The rooms appear randomly.
  • Move until you find the room with the wisdom gem. (Note that the post is on the left upper corner). Pick up the wisdom gem.
  • Move until you find the empty post on the lower right corner. Place the wisdom gem there.
  • Move until you find the monitor with the theory. Read the theory. Make a note on the bottom: "SmartGuy - 4989".
  • Get code
  • The author of the theory is SmartGuy5000. Using the note, 5000 - 4989 = 11.
  • New code: 011
  • Move until you find the lower right post with the wisdom gem. Pick it up.
  • Move until you find the empty upper left post. Place the wisdom gem there.
  • Move until you find the portal. Insert the coordinates and click the button.

304 - (076 - Panel in left room) Lighthouse basement[]

  • You can go left twice and see the projector. There are no clues there. Go right twice.

  • This room has no new codes. But it has an important clue that will be used later: "FI = 342".
  • Go left twice, then down.

  • Go right. Hover over each of the six arrows, revealing a letter for each one. Take note.
  • Go right twice. Pick up the crimson key.
  • Go left four times. Use the key on the door.
  • The door leads to an infinite loop. There are no clues to be found there.

  • The codes are tricky here. They can be found by mousing over the arrows just to the right of the teleporter, attributing to each letter the number corresponding to its position on the alphabet (where A=1, B=2, etc). The arrows pointing right, from top to bottom, form a code. The arrows pointing to the left, top to bottom, form another.
  • New codes: 452; 728
  • Go left. Introduce the coordinates on the portal and click the button.

399 - (628 - Derived from the equation "THIS - 229") Stalagmite room[]

  • Go left. There is a video of a sewing machine. Hover the rune and take note of the clue.
  • Go right twice. Go down.
  • Click the monitor and read the theory (or "Report"). Take note of the clue in the bottom.
  • Get codes and clue
  • The bottom of the theory reads "1111 - THIS". Since the coordinates of this location are 399, we have 1111-399=712.
  • Also, we have a partial clue for another code: "The second of three: three", so we now know that the second digit is three. Take note of this.
  • New code: 712

  • Go down. Go right. Enter the portal. Go left. There seems to be a closed stone relief. Go right twice. Notice that it seems to be missing a stone plate.

  • Go left. You can read the theory. If you go left further, there is only an infinite loop.

  • Go left. You can see a photo of a birthday cake, with the code of this location.

100 - (642 - Meaning of "C") Sub-bot research room[]

  • You can read the report on the monitor in the room where you start.
  • Go right. You can look at schematics on the wall.
  • Hover over the panel on the pipe above, and take note.
  • Get clue
  • The panel reads "THIS + FI". Since the coordinates of this location are 100, we have "100 + FI". Take note of this.
  • Karma portal (fur)
  • Notice the device, it seems to require a power source. The power source are wisdom gems. Once you have found one, return here and place it in the device.
  • Go left twice. Turn valve to reveal a ladder. Go up and enter the karma portal.
  • Go right. Take the karmic vessel. Going down the hole is a deadlock. Go back up.
  • Go right (click on the stairs instead of the ladder). Read the theory. Go left. Go up the ladder.
  • Push the handle down.
  • Go right. Hover the small plate on the wall to read the note.
  • Go left and down the ladder again. Go left and through the karma portal.
  • Go down the ladder again and go right.
  • We have now exhausted all the second generation coordinates. Now, we begin using the "third generation" coordinates that we found on this location and the previous ones.
  • Introduce the coordinates on the portal and click the button.

277 - (523 - Scratches on the wall) Radio lab[]

  • Pick up the laboratory key, next to the ladder. You can look out of the window as well.
  • Go right. Read the theory (the theory notes used to have two locations that are accessible through other means in older versions of the game but they now read [--redacted--]). You can also look out the window here.

011 - (917 - "Smartguy-4989" at the bottom of the theory) Clockwork corridor[]

  • Read the theory. Go right.
  • Enter the upper left door. See the picture. Go right.
  • Enter the upper right door. Hover the cursor over the panel on the bottom left. Take note. Look at the picture and notice the coordinates in the portal.
  • Get codes
  • If you hover over the panel on the bottom left, you see "100 020 008". If you add the numbers you get 100+020+008=128. This is a new code.
  • In the picture, you can see that the portal has the coordinates: 317. This is also a new code.

232 - (875 - Tally, room 2) Kent Falls room[]

  • Notice the nearly empty sheet of paper next to the theory papers. Click on it and take note of the code.
  • Go up and mouse over the glowing rune to get a new code.

  • One code can be found in the empty sheet of paper: 550. The other can be found on the glowing rune: 731.

  • It leads to a location with a huge tree trunk. Go left. You can zoom in on the panel on the tree.

580 - (875 - Tally, room 3) End ruins[]

  • Go left. Notice the scratching near the cave-in, on the arch of the doorway. Mouse over it to get "THIS + TI".
  • Go right thrice. This room contains a viewing device that displays a sped-up version of the video from the end of The Lighthouse. After the end, a code shows up on the screen.
  • Get code and clue
  • The code can be found after watching the video. It is 411.
  • Note also the clue "THIS + TI". Since the coordinates of this location are 580, we have "580 + TI". Make note of this, it will be important later.
  • New code: 411

006 - (218 - Panel) Stone loop[]

  • This room loops very oddly, which is understandable once you read the theory included within about the Subnet being a 4th dimensional space. There are four different rooms in the loop.
  • Find the room with the theory. Read it.
  • Find the room with the ladder going up. In the upper left corner there is a panel that says "ERROR 404".
  • Find the room with the ladder going down (you can just go up from the previous room). There are knives drawn, you can see a hole in the wall, which receives a valve.
  • At this point of the game, you should have a valve in your inventory. However, I recommend you don't use the valve you found on it yet. Instead, keep the valve and make note of this location for future reference.
  • Get code
  • The code can be found on the panel with the clue: "ERROR 404" - 404.
  • New code: 404
  • Find the room with the portal. Introduce the coordinates on the portal and click the button.

616 - (218 - Note on the wall) Hell loop[]

  • This location is a loop. Going either right or left alternates between an empty room or a room with a ladder going down. Go down. The darkness keeps you from going further. Go up. Go right (or left) until you reach the portal.
  • No new codes can be found in this location.

666 - (218 - Note on the wall) Hell[]

  • Go up. There are some pipes hanging, but you cannot go further up. Go down.
  • No new codes can be found in this location.

185 - (757 - Above door) Paired gem room[]

  • Go left. Read the theory.
  • Go left. There is a device on the wall with paired wisdom gems. You can take the wisdom gems for your inventory. For instance, use one of them to power the device found in location 100 and access the karma portal.
  • Go left. Notice the panel barely visible behind a number of cans of compressed gas. The panel reads "TI = 322". Take note of it.
  • Get clue
  • This location has no new codes. However, it does have the clue "TI = 322". Recall from the clue in location 580 that: "THIS + TI".
  • Go right thrice.  Introduce the coordinates on the portal and click the button.

104 - (462 - Mouse over glyph) Ancient section[]

  • Go right twice. Mouse over the panel on the top right corner to read the code "800".
  • Go left. Go down. Place the switches with the slanted lines and the one with the vertical line down (that is, the first, second and fourth).
  • Go up. Go right. Pick up the karma vial from the alcove in the wall. Go left. Go down.
  • Go right. Ring the bell. Note the number II on the bottom right corner. Go left.
  • Go down. Enter the portal.

  • Note: It is possible that the pictures of 8's in the karma portal ott constitute a clue to location 888. However, since this code is hinted explicitly further in the game, we choose to ignore it.

  • This is the ending of Submachine 4. Go left. Mouse over the pedestal of the statue to see "DCCLXX".

  • The portal is in front of the statue. Enter the portal.
  • This location is a closed loop. Go left four times (or right four times). There is another portal. Enter it.
  • Karma portal (fsr)
  • Go right. Go down. Read the theory.
  • Go left. Press the lever on the stone stand. Go right. Go up. Go right. Hover the small panel in the wall to see the credit for this location. Go left twice. Enter the portal.
  • Go right four times (or left four times). Enter the portal.
  • Get code
  • We have "DCCLXX". This is the roman numeral for 770 ("DCC"=700+ "LXX"=70). So we have the code 770.
  • New code: 770
  • Go right. Introduce the coordinates on the portal and click the button.

728 - (747 - Left arrows) Lucky room[]

  • This is the "Lucky room" from Submachine 4, and you can find updated versions of the pictures from the original bonus.
  • Go right twice. See the picture. Go right, see the picture. Go right, see the picture and look at the notes about Einstein, the cat. Go right, see the picture.
  • Go right, see the picture. Take note of the panel that reads "EEB".
  • Go right. You see here a gate. Insert a plasma vial in the stand. The gate opens, revealing a karma portal. Enter the portal.
  • Karma portal (sza)
  • Go left. Note that this mechanism needs a weight stone (recall location 523). At this point, you probably don't have a weight stone in your inventory. So make a note to return to this location once you find one.
  • Go right. Enter the portal.
  • Get code
  • We have from the panel "EEB". Now, attributing to each letter a number corresponding to its position on the alphabet (A=1, B=2,..., E=5) we have the code: 552.
  • New code: 552
  • Go left seven times. Introduce the coordinates on the portal and click the button.

  • Go right. You can see the radio that creates the ambiance of this room, including what appears to be the voice of a woman. Go left.
  • Go left. Look at each one of the periscopes to the left. Note the number in the bottom-left corner of each scope.
  • Get code
  • If you look at the number in each periscope (bottom-left corner), from left to right, you have, in order, 2-5-8.
  • New code: 258
  • And we have now exhausted all third generation coordinates, so, of course, we move to the fourth-generation.

  • Go right thrice. Pick up the propeller blade from the floor.
  • Enter the karma portal.

  • Get code

  • Go right twice to see the mover from Submachine 5. Go left twice.
  • Go left twice to see the mover from Submachine 6. Go right twice.
  • Go down. Click the paper and each one of the photos in the string of photos.
  • Get codes
  • The codes here are all in the string of photos found at the bottom of the ladder. More specifically, in the sixth (806) and eight (461) photograph from the top.
  • New codes: 806; 461
  • Go up. Introduce the coordinates on the portal and click the button.

550 - (232 - Empty sheet) Lighthouse dungeon[]

  • Here we have the lighthouse dungeon from Submachine 2. Go right, read the theory, go left.
  • Go left twice. In the rubble, you can find a panel that says "THIS + 122".
  • Get code
  • From the panel, we have the clue "THIS + 122". Now, since the coordinates of this location are 550, we have 550 + 122 = 672.
  • New code: 672

731 - (232 - Symbol on the wall, also in "Escape from Jay is Games" another game by the author) Escape from Jay Is Games room[]

  • This location is a reference to another game of Mateusz Skutnik. Go left thrice to see a floating blue rune. Go right thrice.
  • Go right twice. There is a vault on the wall. Place a valve there and click it. (If you don't have a valve in your inventory, make a note of this location and return here after you have found one).
  • Enter the portal.
  • Karma portal (lcr)
  • Go right. Click the brass disk to read a fragment of "The Shadow Out of Time" by H. P. Lovecraft. There is also a locked box. To unlock it, you need a key that we have yet to find at this point of the game. Make note of this, we will return here in the future.
  • Go left, enter the portal.
  • Go right. There is a shutter here, that we cannot unlock yet.
  • You can go right, and then down twice.
  • Go up twice. Then go right. There is a gaming joystick here.
  • Go left five times. Introduce the coordinates on the portal and click the button.

411 - (580 - Very long wait after video) Escher room[]

  • The perspective of this location is based on the style of M. C. Escher. Go left (from your perspective) to see a metal door. This door cannot be unlocked. Go right (your perspective).
  • Go right. Go down. Click the stone panel to read a theory.
  • Go up twice. There is a panel on the wall, but it says "unreadable" (formerly, it displayed a repeated clue).
  • Go up, go left. There is a panel that reads "DLIII" and a karma portal. Enter the portal.
  • Karma portal (btn)
  • Go down twice. Go right. There are three infinity symbols on the wall, stack on top of each other.
  • Go left. Go down. Read the theory.
  • Go up three times. Enter the portal.
  • Get codes
  • One code can be found on the panel: DLIII. DLIII is the roman numeral for 553 ("D = 500" + "L = 50" + "III = 3").
  • The second code can be found on the karma portal btn. The three infinity symbols can be seen as three eights: 888.

  • This room contains several bells. if you click the bell over the portal, it deactivates it. Clicking the bell again reactivates the portal.
  • Go left. Click the bell. Read the theory.
  • Go right. Click the bell. Go right. Notice a broken bell. Pick up the bell cube in the floor. The stand has one code - X. Above the stand there is a karma portal. Enter the portal.

  • Go left four times. There is a telescope here, but you can't see through it.

  • Now from location 472 we have the clue "RI + KI". In location 777, we found that the value of RI is 352. The value of KI was found to be "DI - GI" in location 992.
  • Now, in location 103 we found DI to be 34, and in location 859 we found that GI is 95. So, KI = DI - GI = 34 - 95 = -61.
  • So, RI + KI = 352 + (-61) = 291. This is also the code found in the note. So we have double confirmation for the new code: 291.

  • Go left. Read the note (notice this is not a theory). Take note the scratches on the wall. These are hints for sliders in 000.
  • Go left twice. Insert a wisdom gem (if you don't have any, return to a previous location and take one) on top of the device to activate the power.

  • You will not find the end of the game here. Remember how in location 966, in the karma portal, there was a room with a missing ladder and a suggestion to "draw it"? Now that we have a karma infused chalk, let us do just that.

  • Notice the circuit device, with an opening that matches the soap in your inventory (if you don't have one, go pick up one in location 000 or 875). Place the soap in the circuit.

  • Now, in the karma portal in location 291, we found the clue for the sliders in location 000. So, let us go there.
