Well for the popular culture section, I found two possible references in the notes, one is of the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Thought_(The_Hitchhiker%27s_Guide_to_the_Galaxy)#Deep_Thought Deep Thought] computer in THGTTG and another is the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_polynomial Alexander Polynomial].

Also, with relation to ancient cultures, the Cardinal Church looks similar to an arabic/indian palace, with domes included; the Bamboo Town is most probably an ancient civilisation, the Pantheon has some egyptian/mayan(?) influences, and many more... Sub8 is gonna give us a lot of work :P

"The Ring" may be a Cultural Influence

I was watching "The Ring" today and I picked up on a few things - The tiled room (in the movie, it was the observation room for the girl) in the Lighthouse looks the same, as well as the movie projector set up there. The Lighthouse may even be the same. The sound of the page-turning (minor detail, but I picked up on it) sounds the same as when we click on a note. The material for the pages that the hospital thought she "drew" is the same for the pictures in Sub7 (or looks the same).

Or I may be paranoid.

Well, by all means put this to the page. I don't even know what The Ring is, so I'm hardly qualified to do so. Anteroinen1 19:50, March 27, 2011 (UTC)
The reason I asked before I put it in is so I avoid getting "Mateusz already denied this," etc. I'll put it in as an experiment, but it's likely it's not staying.
Not to be generally annoying, but could you also put in there which of "The Ring" movie was it? And by who. Because I've found three different, by Hitchcock and two versions of a Japanese film. (I doubt it is Hitchcock's though, that was about a boxing ring...) Anteroinen1 04:48, March 29, 2011 (UTC)
I watched the Ring to get the cultural influence about the Projector in Sub_2. In fact, I even went out and made three different "Cursed video files" on YouTube, and a story: "Dawn of the Eye-clipse", which makes a twist on the Ring storyline, where a CD of the video file brings down an eye-shaped solar eclipse and a computer virus which kills the same as the tape, spawned from the CD. This is just my experience, after all. Wanderer99 01:28, June 6, 2011 (UTC)

Rename

We should rename the article to "Cultural influences in the Submachine series", those capital letters are unnecessary.
